FORUM - WEDNESDAY 4 NOVEMBER, 3PM – 5PM
Special Guest Speaker:
Ms Liz Harper, Director of Performance and New Business, St Mungo’s, London, UK.
This forum, co-hosted by the Mercy Foundation and the City of Sydney, will highlight the work of St Mungo’s in London and their journey from soup runs to housing provider. Liz Harper, Director of Performance and new Business at St Mungo’s has been working in the homelessness sector since 1992 starting as a client facing worker.
St. Mungo’s started on the streets 40 years ago as a soup run later as an outreach organisation and registered social landlord. They have a £40 million turnover of which £4million is fundraised income used to pilot new ideas and support the rest of their work. They provide hostel, housing and care services. They provide client centred services that focus on recovery.
During this forum Liz will speak about the history and recent work of St Mungo’s. She will talk about supported housing and their new initiative, the ‘Outcomes Star’.
The ‘Outcomes Star’ arose as a result of detailed work exploring the changes a worker might observe or a client might experience on their recovery journey. The Star visually represents and measures a client’s position in a range of areas that are intended to represent the whole person and their needs.
Liz is in Australia to conduct intensive training with workers at Micah Projects in Queensland on the use of the Outcomes Star. The Mercy Foundation has made a grant to Micah Projects to pilot the use of the Star in their homelessness and housing services.
Liz has kindly agreed to visit Sydney to speak at this forum. This will be the only opportunity for Sydney based homelessness and housing service providers to hear Liz whilst she is in Australia.
