Modern Slavery Act now in operation

The Federal Government’s Modern Slavery Act came into operation on 1 July. Organisations with a turnover in excess of $100 million are now required to report on how they are ensuring that their supply chains are not tainted by slavery. We can be proud of the fact that Australia is one of the only countries in the world to have a Modern Slavery Act. Read more about the requirements of the Act here.

NSW Update

In 2018, the NSW parliament passed a Modern Slavery Act, due to come into operation this year. A number of concerns about the Act has delayed its implementation. Special Minister of State Don Harwin told parliament that he would refer the Modern Slavery Act, Amendment Bill and draft regulations to a parliamentary committee. (Read more here)
