Assisting survivors of modern slavery

Modern slavery has a devastating effect on people’s lives. The Freedom Hub works with women and girls that have escaped forced marriage, forced labour and other forms of severe exploitation. The Freedom Hub’s Survivor School helps them recover from their trauma, provides one-to-one mentoring, wrap-around care, employment pathways and tailored supports.

The Mercy Foundation is funding a project run by the Freedom Hub, to provide online trauma-informed recovery support and training for survivors of slavery across Australia.  The project will help survivors recover from complex mental trauma and live independent, financially secure, successful and free lives.

The project was developed following the success of online modules delivered during COVID. This program will enable many more women and girls who are survivors of slavery to recover and achieve their goals.

The Freedom Hub estimates that they will support up to 300 survivors with this program over the next few years.
