From Crisis to Stability: Social Security access for migrant women facing homelessness

This project targets migrant and refugee women at risk of homelessness, particularly women who have fled violent relationship. Many are unaware that they qualify for social security payments and therefore women face severe hardship and may be forced to remain in violent situations or risk homelessness. This project will help ensure that women are aware of their rights and attain safe and secure housing.

MFM Muslim Community Radio    NSW                                                                                     

Path to Stability: A radio series to prevent homelessness among women from CALD backgrounds

Many migrant and refugee women are heavily impacted by language barriers, cultural stigmas, financial insecurity, and lack of awareness about housing entitlements and support services. Many are unaware of resources available and face homelessness. Culturally appropriate education and direct intervention is needed to assist this group of women.

This project offers expert advice and lived-experience storytelling to deliver engaging, practical, and life-changing information, to provide vulnerable women with the confidence and tools they need to secure stable housing.

An innovative solution to end chronic homelessness among vulnerable single women

This project will help prevent homelessness for highly vulnerable women with complex histories of homelessness in Melbourne, Victoria.

Women’s pathways to independence

Women’s Pathways to Independence is a 12-month program that will support and children, experiencing DFV, who cannot access traditional government and non-government supports.

This project provides safe and stable housing, wrap-around support,  access to specialist DV support services and an employment program to support women enter the workplace, achieve long-term economic financial stability, exit homelessness, and enter the private rental market.

Cabrini House

Cabrini House provides safe housing for women and women with children who are seeking asylum and fleeing domestic violence.

Habitat for Humanity NSW                                                                                                           

Empty spaces to Homes Pilot Project

The project will activate vacant buildings to increase the supply of transitional and affordable accommodation for people at risk of homelessness, with a particular focus on women and children escaping domestic violence and young people.

Women and Children First NSW                                                                                                   

Fast track to independence program (FTTIP)

FTTIP provides vital financial support to women and children escaping domestic and family violence  by enabling them to move from crisis accommodation into long term, secure independent housing.

Immigrant Women’s Speak out Association NSW                                                                

Brighter Tomorrow

SpeakOut supports women from migrant and refugee backgrounds experiencing domestic and family violence (DFV). Most women are on temporary visas, with no financial support. SpeakOut provides counselling, visa application support, activities, and crisis accommodation, amongst others. ‘Brighter tomorrow’ will help women be financially independent and access long term housing.

ACRO QLD                                                                                                                                              

EmpowerHer Fund

The initiative is designed to provide targeted funding in response to needs identified by the CALD women and girls living in ACRO’s crisis housing program that will provide them with  new opportunities and skills.

This practical project will help fund driving lessons, fees for licenses, training and vocational  courses, related educational expenses and resources.
